Trauma Treatment for Teens & Adults

Trauma doesn't always look like a single event. For many teens and adults it shows up as:

  • Emotional reactions that feel out of proportion to the situation

  • Avoidance of people, places, or conversations that trigger something

  • Difficulty trusting or feeling safe in relationships

  • A persistent sense that something is just off — without being able to explain why

  • Patterns of behavior that don't make sense on the surface but make perfect sense given what happened

How It Works

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a structured, research-backed treatment for experiences that haven't fully processed. Rather than talking through events repeatedly, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer carry the same emotional weight. Many clients experience meaningful relief in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy.

DBT

For clients whose trauma shows up as emotional dysregulation — intense reactions, difficulty calming down, or feeling out of control — DBT skills provide practical tools for managing those responses in real time. Blueprint Therapy Services incorporates DBT skills where they support the treatment goals — this is not a full DBT program.

Is This a Good Fit?

This is right for you if:

  • Trauma may be part of a more complex picture alongside ADHD or behavioral challenges

  • Talk therapy hasn't moved the needle and you want a more structured approach

  • You are a parent whose teen is struggling emotionally and you suspect something deeper is driving it

  • You are an adult who is tired of managing around something that never fully resolved
