Aaron Edmiston, LPC, LCDC

I believe everyone deserves to find their footing and build a better path forward, even when life presents its toughest challenges. My commitment is to provide a warm, direct, and supportive space where you can bravely explore your experiences and discover effective ways to heal.

I specialize in working with adolescent and adult men who are navigating:

  • Trauma & PTSD: The echoes of past events can deeply impact your present. Whether it's a single distressing incident or a series of overwhelming experiences, I can help you process these memories so they no longer control your life. This includes impacts from accidents, difficult childhoods, significant losses, or other deeply unsettling events.

  • Addiction & Substance Abuse: Breaking free from the grip of addiction is a courageous journey. My extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs has equipped me with specialized expertise to help you understand the roots of these challenges, develop healthy coping strategies, and build a sustainable path to sobriety and renewed purpose.

  • Anxiety & Depression: These aren't signs of weakness, but real conditions that can feel debilitating. If you're experiencing persistent worry, sadness, hopelessness, or a loss of interest in life, we can work together to bring you back to balance, regain control, and find a sense of peace.

  • Support for Teens & Young Men: The teenage years can be incredibly challenging for both adolescents and their parents. If your son is struggling with behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, social pressures, difficulties at school, or substance use, I provide a supportive environment for him to develop coping strategies, improve communication, and build resilience for a healthier future.

How I Can Help:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical approach that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. Often, the way we think about things can lead to unwanted feelings or behaviors. In CBT, we'll work together to identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop new ways of thinking that lead to more positive feelings and actions. You'll gain practical tools to manage your emotions, change unhelpful habits, and improve your overall well-being.

  • EMDR Therapy is a powerful and highly effective approach, especially for those impacted by trauma. It helps your brain reprocess upsetting memories and experiences, reducing their emotional charge. When something traumatic happens, your brain can sometimes "get stuck," holding onto the distress. EMDR uses gentle, guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help your brain naturally move past these blocks, allowing those memories to be stored in a way that no longer causes intense emotional distress. It's about moving from feeling overwhelmed by the past to feeling more present and in control of your life, without needing to extensively talk about every detail of the trauma.
